The Asclepeion Journal is dedicated to bridging the gap between healthcare professionals and the public by making medical research and insights accessible to all. We focus on local communities, highlighting the work of local doctors and researchers while providing cutting-edge healthcare information. Our mission is to empower individuals with knowledge that fosters informed health decisions and stronger, healthier communities.
The name “The Asclepeion Journal” is inspired by the ancient Greek figure Asclepius, the god of medicine and healing. In ancient times, Asclepeia were temples where people sought cures for ailments, combining spiritual and practical healing methods. By adopting this name, the journal honors this historical legacy of healing and medicine while bridging ancient wisdom with modern medical insights. The Asclepeion represents a place of learning, healing, and community—values at the core of our mission. This name reflects our commitment to providing accessible medical knowledge that empowers individuals and strengthens communities, continuing the age-old tradition of healing through informed care.
The inspiration for The Asclepeion Journal came from William Bruce, a Xavier University of Louisiana student, who saw firsthand the healthcare disparities impacting his community. With a vision of making medical knowledge more accessible, he reached out to his fraternity brother, Bryson Aldridge, who shared his passion for addressing these inequalities. As members of the same fraternity, their shared values and commitment to service fueled the project. Together, they decided to focus on New Orleans, a city with a rich history but significant health disparities. From these roots, The Asclepeion Journal was born—a platform dedicated to empowering individuals with transparent, community-driven medical insights.
